Ealing C hosted the team Wimbledon B at the Actonians on 13th November, 2023. The match was drawn 3-3. Given that the top three boards had quite highly rated opponents and the lower two boards had weaker opponents (the last board was a default win for us) the outcome appears fair.

Tony Braine’s opponent appeared to make some inroads into his position. In the end Tony lost on time. Alastair lost the end game when he later stated to me he was a pawn down. Trevor was definitely in the driving seat with large material advantage and was able to force his opponent to resign. David stated that his opponent lost a piece earlier in the game to David’s advantage and his win was assured. Subas playing Black was the first to finish his short game of 19 moves. From a slender advantage (with a pawn up) Black made a blunder at move 17 and thereafter lost the game.
