Ealing D played against Harrow A at Actonians on 28th November. We were again heavily out-gunned but came away with a creditable 2.5-3.5 defeat. There were excellent wins for Jason and David Housego, and Lewis came ever so close on Board 1. A draw was agreed against an opponent who had a 222-rating advantage. Lewis was under intense time pressure without which he would have surely won.
David Websdale (White) played against David Wray (Black) where White played a Queen’s Pawn opening (the London system). White managed to gain a pawn in the centre and then Black overlooked the capture of its Queen for White’s Rook. In an open position, Black defended well, but White had a passed pawn which it could have promoted. Under pressure White lost on time.
