Ealing D, consisting of three juniors, drew with Richmond and Twickenham E at their venue on 12th February.

Micah did well in his first league match and Ashwin also managed a very good win against a stronger player. This is the current league table:

Paul’s opponent opened with a King’s Gambit. Paul did not take the gambit pawn and was led into a line which resulted in him going a pawn down . He managed to recover the pawn but probably relaxed a bit and what should have been a drawing position ended up in a loss .

This bugged Paul all week as we could have won the match if he had drawn. He has decided that he is better off playing a youngster as he seems to come unstuck against an older opponent who tends not to make mistakes . It is all good experience. His opponent had a higher rating but Paul hopes to be back at the 1500-level soon.
