Ealing B succumbed to their second defeat of the season with this disappointing display.
The night began with Tony agreeing a draw on three before perhaps the decisive outcome took place in my own game. After playing the opening poorly, I found myself facing a strong attack from Black’s bishops and major pieces. I however managed to repel the threats and arrived at the endgame with a winning advantage before an egregious blunder threw the game away.
My loss seemingly influenced the play on the remaining boards. Aga felt obligated to try for a win but she ended up in a BB+P v R+2P ending which only had one outcome.
Xavier, as usual, was flirting with time trouble and in an even position had to agree to a draw by repetition.
Finally, Simon, who on first glance had an advantage, succumbed in time trouble and was mated.
A disappointing outcome.
